Military ribbons

A service ribbon has no emblem and no lettering. It is a sequence of coloured stripes, and that sequence is the entire identity of the award, which is why they can be told apart on a uniform at a glance. The colours are specified as woven silk rather than as ink or pixels, so these are measured from the standard artwork the same way the flags were, with one extra step: that artwork is drawn with a sheen, and the shading is folded out before anything is counted.
